The Institute for Pulmonary Diseases of Vojvodina (IPBV) is situated in Sremska Kamenica, a place in the close vicinity of Novi Sad, Capital of northern Serbian Autonomous Province of Vojvodina.
The Institute for Pulmonary Diseases of Vojvodina is situated in Sremska Kamenica, a place in the close vicinity of Novi Sad, Capital of northern Serbian Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The Institute admitted its first patients in 1960. Due to its rapid but steady development, the Institute is nowadays a modern health-care, research and teaching Institution. The total capacity of all the clinics of the Institute is 312 beds, providing for hospitalization of more ca. 10000 inpatients in a year.
In parallel with the development of Health care activity significant improvements were made in scientific and research work. Large number of scientific and research projects in the field of asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, respiratory infections, bronchial carcinoma, modern invasive diagnostics and chest surgery are performed daily in the Institute. The Institute is a health institution with the largest number of clinical studies in the field of respiratory medicine in the Balkan Region. In addition to clinical studies initiated by foreign partners, the Institute is one of the few healthcare institutions in Serbia that carries out its own academic research studies, which are fully designed and implemented by the Institute's health workers. The scientific research team of the Institute coordinates and realizes a large number of municipal, provincial, republic and international projects in the domain, prevention, diagnostics and treatment of respiratory diseases.
